GMail Hack for Firefox: Hide Text Ads
Remove Text Ads from GMail (Digital Media Minute)
Digital Media Minute has come up with a Firefox hack that allows you to hide the text ads in GMail. It is a simple 2 line code that you enter in userContent.css. They advice you to get ChromeEdit extension before you enter this, though in my view it is not needed (If you have already created this file from Firefox help page for web content display). Note that you might be violating the Google TOS for GMail. So, use at your own risk. Personally, I don't mind Text Ads. They are least intrusive compared to Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. Sometimes, they don't even appear.

Raghu - you found the userContent.css file without having to install ChromeEdit? I cannot find the darn file myself (am using FF PR1). I also looked in my old Firefox directory, and it is not in there either.
It would not be available by default, but if you already had customized web display from firefox help page, then it should be there under your profile folder in Chrome directory. You could get more information from http://texturizer.net/firefox/edit.html#content. I have already customized and web display for marquee tags, change cursor for links that open in new window and block ads. I would edit my post to mention this. Thank you.
